skies greeted the East Ozark Bass Club on what turned out to be a scorching hot day. Twenty-seven teams showed up to fish
our 8th event of the season. With about half of the teams weighing in a limit, I guess you could say that fishing
was fair. The air and water temps ranged in the mid to upper 80's and the water had a little more stain than normal. Sorry,
I didn't get pictures this time. I forgot my camera.
place went to the Farmington team of Mark Garner and Larry Hastings with a 3 fish limit weighing 12.12lbs. They fished river
from just past Holiday Landing down to Chaonia Landing. They fished channel swings with black and blue 3/8oz. Strike King
jigs. Larry said that all of their bites came in 14' of water, and that the bite was really light. Larry said “It kind
of felt like a blue gill bite and you had to be feeling some type of cover to get bit.” Their first keeper came on the
1st cast of the day, and the rest of their bites were scattered every 2 or 3 hours. Mark and Larry also had 2nd
big bass of the day weighing 5.16lbs. These guys weighed in three very nice Wappapello bass!
place went to Kevin and Warren Manion. I couldn’t catch up with Kevin for and interview. All I can tell you is that
they fished up the river and weighed in a limit weighing 11.58lbs.
place went to Garrett Rhodes and Jamie Strange of DesLodge, with a limit weighing 10.98lbs. They started out fishing in the
river and ended up in Lost Creek. They focused on channel edged and ledges with stumps on them. Most of their fish came after
10:00am and were caught on a variety of baits. They used texas rigged 10" black worms and a 1/4 oz. Spinnerbait with double
indiana blades. They also had the Big Bass for the day which fell for a texas rigged watermelon and pumpkinseed mix trick
worm. The bass weighed in at 5.28lbs. Nice One!
place went to the Farmington team of Jeff Johnson and Brian Hutson with five fish weighing in at 10.38lbs. They stayed on
the main lake all day and threw carolina rigged watermelon/chart. tailed lizards on rocky main lake points. Most of their
bites came early in the day and bit in around 8' of water.
only two tournaments left in the East Ozark 2007 schedule, some of you guys still need to qualify for the Classic tournament.
